Privacy & data

Student data is the starting point.

Most AI grading today happens by pasting student work, names and all, into public chatbots. Treemarks exists partly to end that. Here’s how we handle data, in plain English.

Anonymized before grading

Identifying details (names, emails, student IDs) are removed from student work before any model sees it. Grading happens on de-identified content.

Your data stays yours

Course data is used only to grade your course. It is never used to train anyone else’s models, and it is never sold or shared.

Designed for FERPA

Student work is FERPA-protected, and Treemarks is built around that from the start. We’re glad to complete your institution’s security review and sign your data-processing agreement (DPA).

You stay in control

Nothing publishes to students without your approval, and every grade is reviewable. You decide what Treemarks touches and when.

Working with your IT or privacy office? We’re happy to walk through our data flow, hosting model, and sub-processors, and to complete your security questionnaire. Reach us at security@treemarks.ai.

This page is a plain-English summary, not a contract. Formal terms are set out in the agreement we sign with your institution.

Privacy you can put in front of IT.
